Alphonso Brown is the organist and choirmaster of the Mt. Zion Spiritual Singers. Alphonso Brown is an accomplished musician, author, and licensed tour guide. He received his BS Degree from S.C. State University in Music. He went on to receive his master's degree from Southern Illinois University and continued graduate studies in music at the University of South Carolina, Charleston University, and The Citadel. Mr. Brown wrote the book, A Gullah Guide to Charleston: Walking Through Black History. He also owns and operates Gullah Tours. He has given lectures at different schools and talk shows on the Gullah language. Accompanying Mr. Brown will be the Mt. Zion Spiritual Singers. The Spiritual Singers will sing authentic Camp Meeting songs. Camp meeting songs are traditional Gullah spirituals. The songs are usually only a couple lines sung repetitively with a refrain.

Chris Williams, Saxophonist
Chris Williams is a native of Charleston, S.C. and College of Charleston graduate. He is happily married, and they have a beautiful two-year-old daughter. Mr. Williams has been part of the Charleston music scene for over 20 years, playing the saxophone, keyboard, and singing. He is a member of an award-winning local band, Plane Jane. For almost 20 years, Chris has been the longstanding music director and organist for Greater St. Johns A.M.E. Church of Johns Island. He has performed in various places such as Australia, Japan, Korea, England, and Germany as well as over 30 different states in the US including Hawaii. He's had the pleasure and honor of performing with countless famous national recording artists. Even though he has a strict schedule, he still finds time to pay it forward wherein he is one of the saxophone instructors at Cario Middle school for their music academy. Music is his passion and lifelong endeavor.
